Bodywork Modalities
My massage sessions typically incorporate an eclectic blend of styles. I adapt each massage to your body's needs. You can request anything from gentle, soothing touch, to therapeutic, as-deep-as-you-want massage. My desire is to give you a profound healing experience and to send you back into the world in a relaxed yet energized state of bliss. Furthermore, my touch comes from my heart, satisfying our deep yearning to be held, cradled, embraced.
Traditional Western Massage
Known as Swedish/Esalen style, a full-body, traditional western massage treats all of the major muscle groups to long gliding strokes and kneading. Deep Tissue work involves more intense pressure and is more effective in releasing restrictions in connective tissue and relaxing tight muscles. Trigger Point Therapy releases involuntary muscular contractions that have become the source of chronic pain. This is in essence similar to Shiatsu and Acupressure.
Conscious Breathing
Normally, we breathe only enough to stay alive. Breathe in abundance, and you will have vibrant life in abundance. With Conscious Breathwork, I coach you in rhythmic breathing to energize your body, to release energetic and emotional blocks, to allow for deeper relaxation, and to make you more aware of the integration of your body and mind. An entire session can be devoted to breathwork, and I incorporate it into massage sessions.
CranioSacral Therapy
The purpose of CranioSacral Therapy is to enhance body functioning and help alleviate pain and dysfunction. The CranioSacral system consists of the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. In contrast with Swedish and deep tissue massage, CranioSacral Therapy is an extremely gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate the negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. Additional benefits include better overall health, and resistance to disease. My clients' most immediate observation of the effect of this work is a profound sense of relaxation. CranioSacral Therapy is done through loose-fitting clothing.
